Sources, method and corrections

Last updated .

Every price range and rule on this site names where it came from and the day we read it. This page lists those sources, explains how we gather moving prices, and tells you how to report an error. It applies to the Denver moving services guide and to the disclosure.

Rules we write by

  • Every cost figure carries its source and the date we read it. We publish no figure of our own until our quote log holds at least twelve dated Denver estimates for that home size.
  • Regulatory statements (PUC permits, estimates, valuation, federal interstate rules, street permits, tax) name the authority. Where we could not confirm the text on the authority's own site, they carry a "verify" mark.
  • Where no source we can cite prints a figure, such as a Denver travel fee, the page says nothing rather than estimating one.
  • Tipping is a custom, not a rule, so we publish no tipping figure.
  • No invented people. There is no named reviewer yet. When a qualified person reviews a section, their name and credentials appear on it.
  • The last-reviewed date changes only when the content changes.

How the ranges and the middle figure are computed

For each home size, the published range runs from the lowest low to the highest high among the sources that print that size. The middle figure is the median of each source's own midpoint, rounded to $10. Crew rates are combined the same way.

The estimator multiplies the crew rate band by the printed hours; it is a check on an estimate, not an estimate.

Common questions about our sourcing

Why publish other people's price ranges instead of your own?

Because a price we have not gathered is a guess. Until our quote log holds twelve dated Denver estimates for a home size, we show what named Denver movers and cost publishers have printed, with each page's date.

What does the "verify" mark mean?

That we could not confirm the current wording on the authority's own website, often because the site refused our request. Confirm it with the authority named before you rely on it.

Why is there no named reviewer?

Because we have not recruited one. A byline appears only when a real, qualified person has reviewed the section.
